ASTOR, FL — A memorial service will be held in Washington Street United Methodist Church, 2 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011, for John Michael Holladay, 54, of Astor, FL, who passed away on Nov. 30, 2010. Visitation after the service. Graveside services were held at Astor Cemetery with full Military honors. A special service followed the graveside service at the Astor Moose Lodge.

John was born in Columbia, SC, May 19, 1956, to John H. and Laura (Johnstone) Holladay. He grew up in the Irmo area and attended Irmo HS. He worked for Bankers Trust & Credit Bureau Adjusters in Columbia. After moving to FL, he worked as a Travel Agent and became involved with the Astor Moose Lodge, earning many awards. He was a past Governor of Astor Lodge No. 2552; President of the St. Johns River Moose Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; son, John M. Holladay Jr., Goose Creek, SC; step-son, Robert Frazier, Astor; his parents of Columbia; sisters, Jeni (Jeff) Hydrick, Irmo, SC; Linda (Jim) Kennedy, Charleston, SC; and Judi (H.W.) Bledsoe, Lexington,SC; and many Moose friends around the world.

Memorials may be made to Astor Moose Lodge No. 2552, Mooseheart Child City & School Inc., or Washington Street United Methodist Church.


Ormond Beach — John Michael Holladay, Sr, 54, of Astor passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Cornerstone Hospice House, in Tavares. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 11th between the hours of 4-6 pm at Lohman Funeral Home, 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach, FL. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Sunday, December 12th at 2:00 pm at Astor Cemetery, Astor, FL. The Broken Circle service will be officiated by District 10, following the graveside service at Astor Moose Lodge 2552. John was born on May 19, 1956 in Columbia, South Carolina to John H. and Laura (Johnstone) Holladay. Raised in South Carolina, he relocated to Ormond Beach, FL in 1995 then to Astor in 1998. John became nicknamed after a distant relative of "Doc Holladay" a friend of Wyatt Earp and it stayed with him for years as it did with his father, and son (both occasionally called Doc). He was a retired Travel Agent and a US Air Force veteran during the Vietnam Era. He began working with the local Moose Club and received numerous awards for his service. He was a past Governor of the Astor Moose Lodge 2552, President of the St. Johns River Moose Legion, and a member of the Astor Mooseketeers, John "Doc" Holladay is survived by his wife Rose Frazier Holladay, Astor, son, John Michael Holladay, Jr., Goose Creek, SC, step-son, Robert "Billy" Frazier, Astor, parents, John Henry and Laura Holladay, Columbia, SC, sisters, Jeni (Jeff) Hydrick, Irmo, SC, Linda (Jim) Kennedy, Charleston, SC, and Judy (H.W.) Bledsoe, Lexington, SC, as well as many of his Moose friends around the world. Memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to, Astor Moose Lodge 2552 Memorial Fund.
