When I was a student at Horace O'Bryant Junior High School in Key West, Florida I was friends with a fellow named Randy Buhrmaster, whom I met in the eighth grade. He was an effusive and personable friendly young man who was very fashion conscious -- and always decked out in the latest duds available. His dad (of whom he spoke with pride and respect) had an automobile dealership between the school and Garrison's Bight which lay directly across US 1 (which also runs directly in front of my present home ...)
He exuded a joyful enthusiasm and projected a 'people person' persona which radiated a warm personality and innate ability to relate to others. This just made him totally likable to say the least ... and I really did enjoy his company when I was a kid.
As happens with people that diaspora which occurs when we go on our own ways placed great distance between us; but I have thought about him over the years and even tracked him down to an area near Fletcher, North Carolina -- with which I was very familiar being a 'Blue Ridge Parkway' tourista who has been known to frequent the Fletcher, Skyland, Bat Cave, and Asheville areas through Brevard and all over the Pigsah Range well.
I had always envisioned catching up with him at some point in my travels, but alas, this is not to be for he has passed away far too soon. I encountered his obit by chance (and to my dismay) in some search engine result only yesterday. I hope his life was full and happy and that his family is getting along as well as can be expected without him. I know I will never forget him. He was a good friend.
Rest in peace.
